Tautua Transleadership Cohort

U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle's Tautua Trans Leadership cohort is comprised of members from our Queer and Trans Pacific Island community. It was created as safe space for the community to learn from each other. Through peer learning and collaboration, we can help build a better place for ourselves, our communities, and our future.

U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle’s Leadership Cohort will aim to make leaders out of the QTPI community to assist in the organization’s future prosperity with programs, outreach, understanding of policies and laws that affects our communities. Through capacity building we hope to build and establish an ongoing relationship with participants while developing a common language around gender identities.

If you or anyone you know is interested in being a part of our Tautua Trans Leadership Cohort, please feel free to reach out on any of our social media accounts or just email us directly at fania@utopiaseattle.org or contact us by phone 206-653-1939.

Tatua Leadership Cohort Model

The Tautua Trans Leadership Cohort Model is divided into three separate Alaka’i Agendas. Each Alaka’i Agenda will have their own focus topic that depends heavily on current matters that is affecting our communities. However, the Alaka’i Agendas will also steer its topics to incorporate what the cohort and the U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle collectively feels should be addressed and discussed.

After every agenda, the members will be able to have more discussions and conversations utilizing the Koko Konversation program that will allow for one on one or group-based discussions depending on the need of the cohort.

KoKo Konversation

Koko Konversation is a seasonal social program that allows members of the U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle’s Tautua Trans Leadership Cohort to engage and have conversations that dive into a variety of topics.

Koko Konversations will happen after every Alaka’i workshop to make sure that the Cohort members understand or have any questions regarding the recent workshop. This program will also allow us to gauge the needs of our Cohort members so we can further assist their needs and help us develop a course of action through active planning and policy changing. We hope to have conversations that will be relevant to the current situations as well as light spirited ones that will build long lasting relationships amongst the Tautua Transleadership Cohort and our U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle team members.

Trans / Gender Diverse Leadership Development Retreat

Because of the pandemic we have had to come up with creative ways to engage our communities while being able to do the scope of our work here at U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle. In response to the pandemic we had to cancel or postpone most of our programs. However we were able to hos our very first virtual retreat.
While navigating virtual spaces, we are proud to have had the participation of our community. Our first leadership retreat’s focus was held with the emphasis on unity and cohesion within the Tautua Trans Leadership Cohort of U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle through the promotion of shared language and concepts around gender identities; to understand the ways that trans lives and trans sex workers are engaged within the legal system; and to engage in facilitated conversations to explore current topics regarding how anti-blackness intersects with Asian & PI trans experiences. Pictured are our guest speakers and our cohort members.
